Winery date

My partner and I tore Melbourne apart finding every piece of entertainment it had to offer and seizing it. We were there for 3 +months on an extended vacation and everyday we had something different planned. We relied heavily on a site called weekendnotes for things to due on the cheaper side. Not soon after arriving their we noticed that the Melbourne area had a lot to offer as far as winery. So we decided to make a date of it.

We loaded up the car, plugged in the ipod and drove around the beautiful country side looking for wineries. It wasn't very difficult to find them. We even met a nice lady who provided us with a map of all the wineries in the area. The wineries seemed to be lined up, one after the other. We intended to hit up as many as we could. My partner was grumpy because he had to drive so it would prevent him from soaking up all the wineries had to offer ;) Nevertheless it was a beautiful day with delicious wine and cheeses.

If you are looking for a nice quiet day out with your partner or a group of friends I suggest hitting up the local wineries. The beautiful scenery of grape vines stretching across green hills is the perfect atmosphere to soak in as you enjoy a nice red wine. It can be quite a romantic day out.

Stickworks: A bit of nature in the city

While in Melbourne on an extended holiday with my partner that lasted up to a year.... we came across "Stickworks" which was this creative art project being displayed in Melbourne. It resembled a castle. It was hollow and made entirely out of twigs and branches. It was really a lovely sight to see. Melbourne is such a diverse place. People are so open, expressive, and most of all proud of their culture in Melbourne.

The city is almost like a blank canvas that everyone is allowed to paint on. It was a real culture shock for me coming from the Deep South (USA) where the majority of people are baptist and conservative. It was a nice and overwhelming change. Some shots of 'Stickworks' below:

Photography from 10,000 feet

My first time flying to Australia I wished so badly I had a camera with me when I looked out my small window and saw the beautiful scenery below. Things really look gorgeous from up that looks even more amazing as night falls and all the street lights come on. The world below seems like an expensive Swarovski necklace. Here are a few mobile shots I managed to snap with my iphone!

The first is a shot just above Utah. I had to get a quick picture of these lovely snow capped mountains at nightfall.
The second is a shot of the blanket of clouds surrounding us with the sun peaking through on the corner.

Loaded n' Stuffed Potatoes

Here's a very easy delicious recipe:

First prepare your bacon and chop up fresh green onions, setting both items aside.

Boil your potatoes until soft with skin still intact. Next cut your potatoes in half, scooping out the middle part leaving the shell. Place shells on a nonstick pan. Chop up your bacon into bits as well.

Then Mix, the middle portions of your potatoes, with cheese, bacon bits, milk, butter, and green onion ( leaving a bit of green onion for garnish at the end) Mix until smooth and creamy.

Next stuff the potatoes shell with the mixture.

Cover with shredded cheddar cheese. Place in the oven and cook until cheese is melted and lightly browned.

Finally, serve with a table spoon of sour cream on top of each potato and garnish with green onion.

19th birthday - Daytona

Last year for my 19th birthday we were in Daytona beach, florida. My partner took me up to the tallest building in Daytona which happened to have a restaurant on its top floor and we had dinner overlooking the beach.

The food was so good.

I don't remember what that was called. Scallops covered in some kind of sauce w/ veggies. It was very good. The scallops were sitting on purple mashed potatoes which I thought was interesting..

At the end of dinner the waiter brought out this...

God I love that man.

Breakfast recipe.

Here's an easy recipe that takes a little twist on the standard bacon & egg breakfast.

1. Frozen crepes
2. Eggs
3. Bacon
4. Salt and pepper
5. Fresh parsley (garnish)

This is a simple quick recipe. Precook your bacon until it is lightly browned. Then take out your frozen crepes and allow to defrost until it is foldable. Place the crepe on a greased pan. Crack one egg over the crepe, and then place a slice of bacon on top. Fold the crepe on each of the four corners. Lightly season with salt and pepper. Place crepe in oven and cook until crepe is golden. Garnish with parsley and serve.
