NSW bushfire emergency & how you can help #nswfires #bushfires

As many people know there are a number of un contained fires burning in the Blue Mountains and West NSW area..

Hundreds of homes have been lost...

From news it seems as though things are getting worse with fears that several of the fires might possibly merge into one large fire. My partner and I are planning a trip to Sydney around Christmas/New Year's so we are planning on helping out with the recovery effort.

To my absolute disgust I learned that there was looting going on in the effected areas. People leave there homes accepting the fact that it might not be there when they come back..only to find their homes intact but all there personal belongings gone. Of course it is a blessing to still have a home but the fact that these low lives would prey on people on the brink of losing everything....

One story that really tore me up was of a family who was out at the time the fire started to take their home. They didn't get to grab anything...no photographs...nothing. They begged the firefighters to let them across the line to save their family pet but it was too dangerous and he perished. You could see the heartbreak on their faces and it was impossible to not feel for them. I couldn't imagine how hard that would be to deal with. The thought of all my memories burning would be too much to handle.

Please keep NSW in your thoughts & prayers at this time.
