Recipe | Orange Blossom Chia Seed Pudding

Before we jump into the recipe we'd like to introduce you to Dipal from De_Palate! You've no doubt drooled over her food pics before, as she hops around Brisbane's best restaurants on Instagram... But what you may not be aware of is that she is a very passionate cook. Yes, some of those food pics you've bee salivating over came from her own kitchen!!!

We are happy to have her here today sharing one of her beautiful, and healthy recipes. So without further ado...

Orange Blossom Chia Seed Pudding

¼ cup chia seeds
1 cup almond milk (or any milk of your choice)
1 teaspoon pure maple syrup or honey or rice malt syrup
1 teaspoon orange blossom water*

Combine all the ingredients in a jar/container and shake/stir well, until combined. Place in the fridge and allow to gel for 30 minutes, then stir/shake again, and return to the fridge for at least an hour more, preferably overnight. Layer with the chia pudding if desired or just serve with some fresh figs and toasted pistachios.

*If you have not used orange blossom water before, then I would suggest you start with ½ teaspoon first and then add more if required. You could also use rose water instead of orange blossom.

Great Food & Cool Vibes: Heya Bar | Fortitude Valley

When walking down Brunswick Street it can be easy to overlook Heya Bar. The moody little bar is hidden away down a  flight of stairs, giving it a very mysterious and interesting atmosphere. You feel as if you've been transported to a whole new world once you step inside the dimly lit bar...

Brought to us by the gentlemen behind The Greshman, Brunswick Social, Libertine, and Popolo. Heya Bar is inspired by the street markets of Southeast Asia. Equip with cool neon signs, pin ball machines, and cushy booths... this place is bursting with character. No wonder why it has become one of our fav spots in the valley.

The menu offers a great variety of fun drinking food (ie fun, little nibbles that pair nicely beer, cocktails, etc) Some of the highlights are: Cheeseburger Spring rolls, Sirracha Cheese Fries, Pork Ribs, Bacon & Mushroom Gyoza, and the Crab Chiko Roll!

If you are looking for a new after work drinks spot with your crew, we highly recommend a visit to Heya Bar! They even have Espresso Martini slushies....

Enough said.

Cronuts vs Doughnuts! New Food Truck | The Doughnut Bar

Now what kind of foodies would we be if we didn't check out the new doughnuts on the block!

Bad ones.

More fuel to our doughnut obsession that has now reached an exciting yet disturbing new level...

The cronut legends that brought us Chocolate Komberry Co have now launched a new doughnut food truck in Brisbane. They've have brought their creative cronut genius to the doughnut market blessing Brisvegas with their truly inspired glazed creations.

If we've learned one thing from The Doughnut Bar is that there really is no limit to what you can put on top (or inside) of a doughnut...

Hershey Half Melts, Peanut Butter Cups, Malteser, Nutella Cheesecake, Matcha, Caramel Pretzel...and so much more

The menu at the Doughnut Bar is not for the faint hearted. It's like all of our wildest doughnut dreams come true!

Lucky for your The Doughnut Bar has taken up residency in Wintergarden. So you can get your dougnut fix Monday-Friday from 9am-7pm in the CBD.

I've never wanted to work in the city as much as I do right now.

A Charming Breakfast at the Brewer's Pantry | South Brisbane

I know, I know... breakfast isn't the first thing that comes to mind when you think of The Charming Squire... Since opening last year Charming has made quite the name for itself as a popular watering hole in Brisbane.

More late night drinking sessions with your mates...less early morning brekky catch up with the girls...

Prepare to be pleasantly surprised. The Charming Squire has a hell of a lot more to offer than boutique beers.

Earlier this year Charming opened it's Brewer's Pantry  - a welcome addition to the South Brisbane breakfast scene. The charming little open air cafe is located right next to the South Brisbane train station.

The space may be small but the breakfast menu packs quite the punch! You've got the James Squire Big Breakfast (Welsh Rarebit, Bacon, Sausage, Pulled Pork, Eggs, Mushroom, and Tomato), Classic Eggs Benedict on a Flaky Croissant, House made Granola, and Brioche French Toast with Banana, Ricotta, Almonds and Honey- to name a few!

The chefs at The Brewer's Pantry utilize local produce to craft their sensational menu, with many of the ingredients being sourced from The Charming Squire's farm in Pullenvale.

Next time you are wandering around South Brisbane in search for a cure for your brekky cravings don't look past The Charming Squire!
