Now Open: Santa Monica Pizza & Burger Bar | CBD

A new restaurant has opened its doors on Ann Street in the CBD and it combines two of our great loves: Italian Food & Burgers.

Santa Monica Brisbane is the latest masterpiece of Petroccitto family, the lovely people behind popular Brisbane establishments such as Bar Pacino, Cafe Pacino, Chocolate Soldier, Espresso Veloce, and Bellezza Espresso Bar.

Having only opened its doors a couple weeks ago, Santa Monica Brisbane is already creating a stir in the foodie scene, and for good reason. The menu is perfection; featuring a mouthwatering selection of specialty pizzas, pastas, burgers, wings, loaded fries, salads, and a few jaw dropping desserts!

The dynamic duo behind Santa Monica's droolworthy creations are German brothers, Erkan & Hakan KaraKol, who bring an impressive shared pool of Michelin starred experience, university qualifications, and extensive travel which mix together to create some next level Cali-style eats!

Delicious food, custom cocktails, and an all day breakfast menu make this new restaurant the perfect foodie oasis in the middle of the bustling CBD (conveniently next door to Grand Central).

OUR TOP FOOD PICKS:
Santa Monica Chicken Wings, Pan Seared Pulled Pork Gnocchi, Chili Cheese Burger, and Santa Monica Banana Split!

Our Weekend in Warwick | Sourced Southern Downs Flavours

Last month, we had the pleasure of spending two wonderful nights in Southern Downs town of Warwick to fully immerse ourselves in the final days of their annual Jumper & Jazz Festival. If you've never seen the quiet country town of Warwick during the Jumper & Jazz festival let me tell you it's a sight to behold!

In winter the town comes alive with excitement and jazz music fills the air. Every tree, statue, and corner store receives a wooly makeover and all the towns people gather together dressed in their best handmade threads, and dance in the streets!

There's jazz themed dinners, suitcases rummages, artwork, and more. This year was especially exciting with the launch of Warwick's first ever foodie festival, Sourced Southern Downs Flavours by Amy Walker of The Wife Creative and the Southern Downs Regional Council.

The festival put Southern Downs produce center stage, and invited guests to stroll from stall to stall tasting delicious local treats. Wines, Beers, Honey, Jam, Baked Goods and more lined the streets of Warwick. A delicious, foodie friendly addition to the Jumpers & Jazz program.

For more information on Jumpers & Jazz in July & Sourced Southern Downs Flavours, head to the official website, available here.

Is This Brisbane's Most Extreme Cheese Pizza?

Is there any such thing as too much cheese? We don't think so and neither do the fine folks at Funny Funny Korean restaurant on Mary Street in the CBD.

That's why one of their delectable dishes has been given the esteemed title of Brisbane's Most Extreme Cheese Pizza. This beauty recently caught our eye when it was going viral amongst the food porn accounts on Instagram. As you can imagine, it was love at first sight...we had to make it ours....

The pizza or "Cheese Pancake" as it is called on the menu at Funny Funny will run you $16- a small price to pay for this cheesy masterpiece. The dish comes sizzling hot in a skillet and cut into slices, perfect for sharing.

See this cheesy explosion in action below!

We Try Brisbane's Best Korean Fried Chicken

Unless you been living under a rock, or are one of those weird people who don't eat deep fried foods (in which case: what are you doing here?) you've heard about Moo Moo Chicken & Beer in Runcorn.

Moo Moo is a small Korean restaurant located on Warrigal Road in Runcorn next to the very popular Gentosku Ramen. Their menu is a delicious assortment of Korean soups, stir frys, noodle dishes, and most importantly fried chicken!

You see, Moo Moo has a reputation for serving up some of the best Korean fried chicken the river city has to offer. Fried chicken has long held a very special place in our hearts so for purely research purposes... we moseyed down to Runcorn to check it out.

OUR VERDICT
Moo Moo Chicken & Beer in Runcorn is serving up some of the crispiest fried chicken we have EVER EATEN. For just $27 guests can enjoy a whole boneless plate of deep fried chicken, homemade chips, 2 small sides, and dipping sauces ($26.50 with bone). Different marinade options are available such as soy and spicy... but being fried chicken purist we highly recommend you try regular first time around. These golden morsels of deep fried goodness are simply the best. Perfectly crispy and seasoned to perfection. But be warned once you try Moo Moo you may become addicted.
