6 Brisbane Pizzerias You Need To Try

Are you a fan of authentic Italian pizzas? If so, you are in the right place! After careful research (aka copious amounts of eating) we've rounded up some of the most delicious Italian pies our city has to offer. So good, you won't be able to stop at one slice...

Popolo Brisbane | Southbank

Southbank has it's fair share of great restaurants but if its Italian you desire look no further than Popolo. They are serving up some of the best and crispiest Margherita pizzas in town very generously topped with fresh buffalo mozzarella! Our stomachs are rumbling just thinking about it...

Il Verde | Fortitude Valley

Il Verde may have only opened its doors a few days ago but we make it our mission to immediately try any Italian restaurant that opens its doors. The mouthwatering creations at this new King Street eatery get our massive tick of approval.

Julius Pizzeria | South Brisbane

Julius Pizzeria has quite the reputation amongst Brisbane foodies for their droolworthy Italian creations. From the Tartufo (Mozzarella, Smoked Bacon, Portobello Mushrooms, Stracchino, and Truffle Paste) to the Salsiccia (Tomato, Mozzarella, Chilli, Provolone, Pork, Fennel Sausage, and Rocket) a vist to Julius always ends in a happy belly.

Casa Nostra Ristorante | Fortitude Valley

If traditional, Sicilian home cooking takes your fancy than Casa Nostra Ristorante in Fortitude Valley is the place for you. Located at the M&A building in the space formerly occupied by Mighty Mighty, Casa Nostra is bringing all the comforts of Italy to the river city. The pizzas are generously topped and bursting with flavour. Be prepared for one hell of a food coma.

Santa Monica | Brisbane CBD

Burgers aren't the only thing you'll find on the menu at Santa Monica Brisbane. The beautifully crafted menu also has a heavy Italian influence with dishes like arancini, pastas, and yes pizza! We highly recommend the Spicy Salami pizza followed by a banana split for desssert.

Il Locale | Paddington

At the right place, pizza can be perfectly acceptable date night food and Il Locale in Rosalie is the right place. Our personal favorites are the classic Margherita and the Pork & Fennel pizza. Finish off your foodie trip to Italy with a visit Gelato Cremona just a few minutes walk from Il Locale. Bellissimo!

Brisbane's newest sushi train, now open in the new King Street dining precinct, will have you swooning as soon as you step through the doors.

Sushi & Nori set up shop in Brisbane only two short weeks ago. Brought to you by Sunny Lim, the founder of Eat Gangnam, which owns the incredibly successful Sushi & Nori and Marae Izakaya in Sydney and Melbourne.

Now Open: The Croft House Town Kitchen & Bar

The Croft House is not your typical hotel-restaurant.

In fact, it doesn't feel like a hotel-restaurant at all. That's largely due to the fact that you don't need to enter the hotel to access the restaurant. That's right you can completely bypass the awkward stroll through the lobby and go straight to your table!

Located on the corner of Charlotte & Albert, The Croft House is the Sebel Brisbane's stylish new eatery. The beautifully appointed restaurant takes over the space formerly occupied by the Palettes and is sure to be your new favorite city lunch destination.

Chargrilled Borrowdale Pork Chop with Savoy Cabbage, Baked Apple, Cider & Seeded Mustard

Open from 6:30am til late, The Croft House Modern Australian menu offers everything a city foodie could desire from satisfying hearty meals, to grab and go snacks, and delicious evening cocktails. On our recent visit we delved into the dinner menu which we found to be incredibly generous and thoughtfully crafted.

You can expect great value when you dine at The Croft House, the portion sizes are large and the quality is outstanding with the majority of their produce being sourced regionally!

- Pulled Pork Croquettes
- Spiced Chicken Wings
- Darling Downs 150 Day Grain Fed Bavette Steak
- and the Textures of Chocolate Dessert to finish (pictured above)!

6 Loaded Fries You Should Have Eaten If You Live In Brisbane

We can never bring ourselves to pass up an offer of devouring loaded fries...And why should we deny ourselves of this cheese smothered gift?

Loaded fries come in many delicious combinations but we are not one to discriminate. We love them all but there are a few that stand proudly above the rest and exemplify what it means to be truly "loaded"

This newly opened Caxton Street burger joint is serving up some of the most creative and epic loaded fries in Brisbane. The droolworthy fries are topped with Cheese Sauce, Candied Bacon, Green Onion, and Fritzensauce. I know what you're thinking...that doesn't sound that special...but you see it all boils down to one very unique ingredient that we've left out! That ingredient is Twisties Salt. Yes, the team at Fritzenberger have made Twisties into salt form which they very generously top their loaded fries with. Get ready for a mouth-gasm.

Getta Burger
The loaded fries at Getta Burger have long held a place in the hearts of Brisbanites. These fries literally have everything but the kitchen sink piled on top of them making them one of the most loaded fries in town. Smoked Brisket, Pulled Pork, Grilled Onion, Cheese, Bacon, drizzled with Mustard, Ranch and That BBQ Sauce...it's a mouthful!

Hello Harry's
The loaded fries at Hello Harry's may be some of the simplest loaded fries on our list but that doesn't mean they are any less delicious. It starts with the perfectly seasoned crispy chips which are then topped with one of the most creamiest, and delicious cheese sauces we have ever eaten...that's finished off with crispy bacon and fresh green onion. Beautiful!

Bella BBQ
They guys at Bella BBQ don't have do anything, and all one needs to do is see their magnificent loaded fries to know that. It's like all your loaded dreams come true. 18 hr Smoked Brisket, Pulled Pork, Candied Bacon, Mac n Cheese, BBQ Sauce, Mustard, and Cheese Sauce....stretchy pants are HIGHLY advised.

Mr. Burger
Mr Burger Trucks may have only been roaming the streets of Brisbane for a month now but we are already die hard fans. I'd be lying if I said there infamous Trucker chips didn't play a role in sealing our devotion. The legendary chips are generously coated in 3 types of American cheese, crispy diced bacon, and their secret recipe Trucker Sauce. The delectable chips come in a small and large size- perfect for sharing. Fingers crossed they bring their loaded pizza fries to Brisbane soon!

Last but certainly not least, Ze-Chips! Zepickle's famous loaded chips are topped with IPA Beer Cheese Sauce, Maple Smoked Bacon, and ZP Sauce. Now it may not have all the bell's and whistles as the other fries on our list but rest assured the IPA Beer Cheese Sauce will change your life.

Scenic Rim Road Trip With The New Gasmate Odyssey

Spring is officially here and there's no better way to celebrate than with an Aussie BBQ!

But instead of cranking up the old grill in your backyard, surrounded by the not so picturesque sights of suburbia....why not pack up the car and head out to one of the beautiful parks in the Scenic Rim.

That's exactly what we did this weekend with our new Gasmate Odyssey portable BBQ. Our road trip destination: Lake Moogerah.

Lake Moogerah is home to the breathtaking Moogerah Dam, a mass curvature arch dam, which visitors are welcome to walk across. The lake itself features uninterrupted views of the great dividing range and is a popular spot for kayaking, canoeing, jet skiing and a number of other water sports.

One of the most obvious advantages of having your own portable BBQ is being able to set up shop wherever you please. We chose a shaded picnic table for our BBQ burger lunch. The perks, however, don't end there with the new Gasmaate Odyssey. The new Odyssey range comes in three different sizes to suit a variety of needs- one, two and three burners starting from $299. We took the 2 burner for a spin (valued at $429) which is great value especially when compared to its more pricey competitor the Weber Q.

All odyssey BBQ's come equip with a large cooking surface which features a flat hot plate, a regular grill and wok cooking. We gave the grill and hotplate a workout, cooking up burger patties and frying bacon for our cheeseburger. Having never owned a portable BBQ we were surprised at how easy it was to use. To melt the cheese on our burgers we simply closed the cast aluminum dome lid. Click the video below to check out how our day went:

Start planning your own road trip! The Gasmate Odyssey is available exclusively at Bunnings Warehouse. For more information and to purchase your own portable grill, click here.
