New Menu & Fresh New Style | Byron Bay Brewery

Has it been a while since your last trip to Byron Bay? Looking for a good excuse to go?

Well we've got one and it involves two of our favorite things: icy cold craft brews & droolworthy food!

A couple months ago the iconic  Byron Bay Brewery reopened its doors after receiving a massive full refurbishment courtesy of new owners Lion. The place is looking better than ever with a fresh, modern, and clean new fit out- just in time for summer.

Sticky Lamb Rib

Don't worry all your beloved brews still have a place on the taps but now, thanks to the talented Head Chef Micheal Desmond you've got a brand new sensational menu to pair it with. The new menu has a strong focus on seasonal, fresh produce- with a lot of the ingredients being sourced from growers in and around Byron. We recently made the journey to the brewery and were very impressed with the new offerings!

Crispy Pork Belly
Bacon & Cheese Croquettes

Our Top Picks:
- Bacon & Cheese Croquettes with Salsa Verde
- Sticky Lamb Ribs (don't leave without trying these!)
- Spiced Grilled Chicken with Corn Salsa and Jalapenos
- and for dessert, Peanut Butter, Salted Caramel, and Chocolate Ice cream sandwiches

Pair your meal with a pony round, which lets you sample 4 of the brewery's delicious beers for just $14. Finish off your experience with a FREE brewery tour/tasting which kicks off around 2pm. Sounds like a pretty good way to spend the weekend!

Sushi Burritos Are Headed To Brisbane!

Two of this year's hottest food trends are on their way to South bank and we have all the details.

If you're like us you follow a couple LA food blogs on Instagram just to torture yourself with all the delicious food you can't have...

For long have we drooled in agony at photos of Sushi Burritos made popular by the iconic Sushiritto in California. Well, we are happy to report your torment will soon end because a new restaurant called Suki is set to open this month!

Those not in the know may be scratching their heads as to what a sushi burrito is... Well, it's exactly what the name suggests... a sushi roll but in a burrito form! These massive wrapped rolls are the perfect on the go lunch while you leisurely stroll the South bank parklands.

That's not the only trend Suki will be bringing to the river city. They will also have a number of delicious poke bowls on their menu. A poke bowl is a Japanese inspired rice bowl dish loaded up with fresh raw fish, and other tasty toppings like avocado, cucumber, etc.

Stay tuned for the official opening date...

The Top 5 Best Sushi Restaurants In Brisbane

Sushi rolls comes in all shapes and sizes but we love them all. It's the only meal you can truly binge eat without feeling incredibly sick afterwords (we know from personal experience). If your veins bleed wasabi like ours do you are in the right place. Here are our top 5 favorite sushi restaurants in Brisbane:

Sushi & Nori | King Street, Bowen Hills

Prepare to fall in nori-coated love because Brisbane's fancy new sushi train is sure to be your new favorite lunch hang. Having opened its doors only a few weeks ago this new, spacious and beautifully designed sushi train has already captured the hearts of many Brisbane foodies. It's by no means your typical sushi train. Sushi & Nori are serving up nothing but the best with their flavourful fusion rolls. All produce is super fresh and of the highest quality like their premium Tassie salmon.

Oiishi | Sunnybank Hills

Oiishi has long held a special place in our hearts and the hearts of Sunnybank locals. You'll be pressed to find a time where they arent bursting with customers and for good reason. Oiishi is serving up some of the most innovative and delish fusion rolls in Brisbane. Our personal favs are the Dynamite Rolls ( Salmon and cucumber wrapped in pink soy skin, dressed in Oiishi's famous Dynamite sauce) and the Snake Roll (Medium rare salmon, tobiko and avocado wrapped in salmon skin tempura, dressed in wasabi mayo).

Shabuhouse | Mary St, CBD

Five words: ALL. YOU. CAN. EAT. SUSHI.

Yes along with delicious hot pot, guests of Shabuhouse are treated to a smorgasbord of freshly prepared sushi! The variety is amazing and the sushi is constantly replenished throughout the day. If you consider yourself a die hard connoisseur of sushi then this is one buffet you NEED to try.

Brisbane's Best Date Nights: The APO | Fortitude Valley

The valley may be home to some of Brisbane's best pubs and clubs...but that doesn't mean it's not an acceptable location for a date night!

The valley also happens to be bursting with quality dining experiences and The APO is a shining example of this.

Set in a heritage listed medicine dispensary dating back to 1862, the appropriately named APO (or apothecary) is serving up delicious, inspired tapas and equally impressive wines and cocktails. The menu has been expertly crafted by none other than chef Ben Williamson, who you may know from popular venues such as Gerard's Bistro.

We made our way to the valley to try it out for the first time a few weeks ago. Drawn in by a too good to pass up deal advertised on restaurant booking site, Dimmi. Each week Dimmi offers members exclusive 50% off deals to popular Brisbane restaurant. Membership is free and the deals can be claimed simply by booking through the website.

The restaurant itself is very cosy and intimate. We'd liken it to an upscale wine cellar. The romantic atmosphere paired with it's world class food offerings make it a top choice for a Brisbane date night in our books!
