The Wobbly Cheesecake That's Got Sydney Going Mad!

There's a new cheesecake in town and you would have had to been sleeping under a rock not to know about it. Or maybe your one of those strange people who have cut sugar completely out of their diet, in which case, please leave...

Japanese Cheesecake isn't like the normal cheesecake we've grown to love. To start of it's baked instead of chilled and the consistency is completely different. It's not thick and's light and fluffy...wobbly even!

This in our eyes makes it the perfect dessert for any occasion. Maybe your stuffed after a big meal but don't want to imagine a world where you would skip out on dessert....No need to fret, this light and delicious cake is guaranteed to satisfy without making you feel ill afterwords.

So far the only place we've found in Australia serving up this magnificent cake is Uncle Tetsu in Sydney. There you will find a variety of cheesecake flavours (like the beloved Matcha!) along with other droolworthy sweets.

Uncle Tetsu's Japanese Cheesecake
501 George Street, Sydney
Open Mon-Sun (11am-10pm)

How To Get Your Hands on The New Limited Edition Gaytimes

No doubt you've heard by now that the good folks behind Streets Ice cream have launched 4 brand new Golden Gaytime flavours.

The Golden Gaytime is a full fledged icon in Australia so the news of their being NEW flavours is fyi kind of a big deal. The new flavours have been launched in partnership with Topshop and are available in stores in a section they are calling the "Crumb Shed".

The exciting new limited edition flavours available at the Crumb Shed are as follows:

  • Unicorn Breath – vanilla crumb, musk sticks, strawberry hard candy, popping candy, edible glitter
  • Crumb Choc Millionaire – chocolate crumb, smashed potato crisps, desiccated coconut, 100s & 1000s, edible glitter
  • Chocopalooza – chocolate crumb, lolly bananas, 100s & 1000s
  • Golden Chief's Salty Gaytime – vanilla crumb, pretzel bits, salted caramel drizzle (created by Gaytime 'Crumbassador', Jesse James McElroy)
  • The OG-G – with even more vanilla crumb (the original and the best handcrafted to perfection)
They are selling for $6 each but sadly for Brisbanites the new gaytimes are only available at Top shops in Syd & Melb. There's no word on how long the pop up will last or if it will expand to other states. Lucky for this foodie my recent trip to Sydney coincided with their launch so I was able to get my paws on the "Unicorn Breath" & "Crumb Choc Millionaire".

The new gaytimes are dipped in a delicious chocolate sauce and then rolled around in the crumb before your eyes. The original crumb is also available for sale at the crumb shed. In conclusion, if you have a trip to SYD or MELB on the books not trying the new flavours would be a BIG mistake....HUGE.

Charboy's is BACK | We check out the new CBD location!

Long have we waited for the day the Gods would see fit to return the beloved Charboys to the people of Brisbane.

It gives us great pleasure to announce that that momentous day has finally arrived! Charboys is back in action. Cooking up those delicious classic burgers we have grown to love in a brand new location. You can now get your burger fix on Edward Street in the CBD.

Who doesn't remember that devastating day when we learned Charboys would no longer inhabit the Boundary Street markets. The long, agonising wait for thier return was almost insufferable...

We headed along to their new cbd location just the other day to check out what the boys were cooking up. We were pleasantly surprised to find the classics we know and love (ie the jaw dropping beast that is "Mr Scorcher") along with some new faces like the Southern Fried Chicken burger.

Of course, being the fried chicken connoisseurs that we are we had to get our hands on that one! Expect a perfectly crispy, sizeable piece of lean chicken breast on a soft squishy bun.

PRO TIP: Add bacon and cheese (because why the hell not?)

Charboys Burgers
288 Edward Street, Brisbane
Open Mon-Fri (11am-2pm & 5pm-8pm) Sat (5pm-8pm) Sun Closed
