Tips For Visiting The Glasshouse Mountains

The Glasshouse Mountains are without a doubt one of the most iconic destinations in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland...

And when you see them for yourself it's not hard to understand why. This family of mountains is one of the most uniquely shaped mountain ranges in Queensland. Big open skies, lush green paddocks, and rolling hills...The views, everywhere you turn, are simply BREATHTAKING.

Luckily, us Brisbanites are incredibly spoiled. This stunning range is only a little over an hour from Brisbane....which makes it the perfect destination for a weekend road trip!

Having visited this gorgeous area a few times now we compiled a few tips which should make help your weekend adventure go smoothly.

Tip #1: Prepare for the climate
The Glasshouse mountains may only be an hour or so out of Brisbane but that doesn't mean you shouldn't put any thought into what to take with you. If you are heading up this time of year, expect a hot & humid environment. Be sure to pack plenty of water, a hat, and sunscreen.

Tip#2: Shoes
Now I don't mean just any kind of're going to want comfortable hiking shoes. Even if you don't plan on doing serious hiking. In order to see the best views, you are going to have to walk a bit. If you feel up to it why not tackle Mt Ngungun. I highly recommend it! The trail isn't particularly long (2.8km return) but it does get steep about halfway up. The incredible view at the top, as anyone will tell you, more than makes up for the sweat.

Tip#3: Bring Snacks
There are heaps of wonderful places to explore  & see at the Glass House Mountains.... and the Sunshine Coast Hinterland in general. However, restaurants are few and far between so pack snacks to avoid the inevitable hangries.

Tip #4: Bring a Camera
Be sure to take a camera because like I mentioned earlier the views are insanely gorgoeus! Also, like, if you don't share it on Instagram did you really even go? (lol)
