Weekend Escape: Tweeter's Country Getaway

Nestled in the cute rural town of Crows Nest, Queensland (about 2hrs from Brisbane) sits a unique country getaway unlike any we've stayed at before.

What makes it unique, you ask? Well for one it's perched high atop a rocky, ancient 85 metre gorge! Yeah, not the place you want to be stumbling around at in the middle of the night...

Tweeters Country Getaway offers the luxuries of a B&B and the uniquely country experiences of a farm stay all rolled into one. Tweeters opened its doors about 2 years ago when owners Peter & Thuy moved downunder from Vietnam. Peter grew up in Crows Nest and realised the potential the town had to become a flourishing tourist destination.

Now I know a B&B on top of an ancient 85 metre gorge sounds cool, but I'm happy to report the perks of staying at Tweeters don't end there. The house itself consists of 6 rooms, a VERY generous lounge area with a wood fire, and a brand new fully appointed kitchen. The house has a very cabin-esq feel which fits nicely with the surrounds. We got an intimate and cosy vibe as soon as we stepped through the doors. A huge plus for us was that each room featured a very comfy bed and a private ensuite!

Like I said earlier, Tweeters offers all the luxuries of a B&B plus more. How many B&B's do you know that offer cuddles with baby piglets! None? How about a show-offy peacock he likes to strut around with his stunning feathers proudly displayed? No?

Yes playtime with the piglets, Mr Peacock, Jesse the Pony, the goats, sheep, ducks, chooks, and pups is all included in your nightly rate of $140.

Now if you are like us the town of Crows Nest has probably slipped under your radar. That truly is a shame because as we found out (thanks to our lovely hosts at Tweeters) this charming country town really has a lot to offer.

For starters, the town is positioned perfectly in between 4 of Queensland's most gorgeous national parks (Bunya Mountains, Crows Nest, Ravensbourne, and The Palm) ...making it the perfect retreat for those with an adventurous heart. From the stunning natural watering holes, to the sweeping mountain views its not difficult to get swept up in the beauty of this place.

Maybe you're after a more lowkey weekend in the country -minus the hiking? Not to worry there is also a few wineries only minutes drive from Tweeters (BunnyConnellen & Holland Wines)

No need to stress about food while you are on your relaxing getaway. The team at Tweeters are more than happy to take care of that. We were treated delicious campfire cookout similar to what guests can expect when dining at Tweeters. They are also fully licensed so kick back and enjoy a glass of wine or a beer while you watch the sunset. Tweeters charges just $$20 for lunch & dinner, $12 breakfast ($7 continental).

Looking to escape suburbia this weekend? Why not treat yourself to a getaway in the country. You deserve it!
